SWAC Upset Saturday Part 2!
Jackson State falls to Grambling State
SWAC Upset Saturday, Part 2: Down Goes Frazier!
The unbeaten run ended in THEE HOLE. Valley refused to quit. Southern responded. FAMU crashed Homecoming. And the division races just got louder.
Grambling beat Jackson State 45-38, but JSU remains listed first in the East. Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State also sit at 2-1 in conference. In the West, Grambling and Alcorn are both 2-1. There is plenty of football left—and every finish matters.
DOWN GOES FRAZIER!
Grambling erased an early 14-0 deficit and handed Jackson State its first loss. Jacobe Robinson accounted for four passing touchdowns and a rushing score. D'Shaun Ford put Grambling ahead with a one-yard touchdown at 1:36; Theodore Caballero added a field goal at 1:01.

THE GOOD
Grambling found an answer in Robinson. JSU also showed fight: Li'Darious Pryor ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns, and the Tigers reclaimed a 38-35 fourth-quarter lead.
THE BAD
JSU could not hold its late advantage. Grambling allowed 38 points, leaving defensive corrections even after a major win.
THE UGLY
An early lead did not survive, and a late Marcellius Johnson interception helped Grambling finish. THEE conversation now turns to closing games and quarterback availability.
East race: JSU remains first in the posted standings and owns the head-to-head win over Alabama A&M. That does not settle every possible future multi-team tie.
Homecoming reset: Jackson State returns to THEE VET to host FAMU on October 17. The Tigers remain first in the posted East standings, but a Rattlers team fresh off spoiling Alabama State’s Homecoming will be looking to interrupt another celebration.

VALLEY DID IT AGAIN!
Mississippi Valley State scored 24 fourth-quarter points to turn the finish upside down. Josh Brown delivered the winning 16-yard touchdown run with 42 seconds left, capping a six-play, 44-yard drive.
Tap each heading for SheLovesThee’s Good, Bad & Ugly analysis.
THE GOOD
Valley kept competing and turned another tight finish into a win. The Delta Devils now carry consecutive conference victories into the Bethune-Cookman matchup.
THE BAD
Texas Southern produced 34 points but could not protect the result. Offensive production alone did not deliver its first SWAC win.
THE UGLY
Allowing 24 points in the final quarter is a closing-game problem. TSU heads into its open week 0-3 in conference with questions that cannot wait.

Tap each heading for SheLovesThee’s Good, Bad & Ugly analysis.
THE GOOD
Southern delivered the finish it needed after the UAPB loss. A 14-0 final quarter gave the Jaguars a welcome conference breakthrough.
THE BAD
Prairie View was in position to win after three quarters, then lost control of the final period.
THE UGLY
PVAMU has consecutive conference losses. With Alcorn coming for Homecoming, another missed opportunity would make the West race even harder.

BULLDOGS UNLEASHED
Alabama A&M led 17-10 at halftime, then scored 38 unanswered points before Bethune-Cookman's late touchdown. A 24-point third quarter separated the teams. Jarel Williams caught two touchdown passes; Byron Perrilliat ran for two scores.
A fierce bounce-back: After losing 31-28 to Jackson State, Alabama A&M answered with a 55-17 statement. The Bulldogs turned a seven-point halftime lead into a runaway win. THEE take: AAMU did not let a close loss define its next Saturday—and Grambling now walks into Huntsville against a team that just rediscovered its finishing power.
Tap each heading for SheLovesThee’s Good, Bad & Ugly analysis.
THE GOOD
AAMU responded emphatically to the JSU loss. Cornelious Brown IV threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on six completions.
THE BAD
Bethune-Cookman committed three second-half turnovers. Rashon Brown's 97 rushing yards could not overcome those mistakes.
THE UGLY
The Wildcats finished with 26 passing yards and conceded scores on six consecutive AAMU drives. Valley is no longer a comfortable bounce-back assignment.

HOMECOMING HANDLED
Alcorn dominated with 323 rushing yards and scores on offense, defense and special teams. The Braves gained 446 total yards to Arkansas Baptist's 206 and won 63-7 in front of 14,502 fans.
Tap each heading for SheLovesThee’s Good, Bad & Ugly analysis.
THE GOOD
Alcorn established the run and delivered a complete Homecoming performance. Omarion Blakes returned a punt 70 yards for a score; Kaidon Whidby scored on a fumble recovery.
THE BAD
The Braves still lost a fumble and threw an interception. A comfortable win should not hide correctable ball-security mistakes.
THE UGLY
The Buffaloes allowed 49 unanswered points after pulling within 14-7. For Alcorn, the tougher conference test resumes at Prairie View.
Nonconference game: Alcorn’s SWAC record stays 2-1. Arkansas Baptist is outside the SWAC; its box-score conference record is 2-2 in the SAC.

THE GOOD
Armond Parker threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Burris finished with four receptions for 216 yards, giving the Rattlers the explosive plays they needed.
THE BAD
FAMU allowed 274 rushing yards. Alabama State controlled the ball for 38 minutes but could not turn that advantage into a win.
THE UGLY
Two enormous fourth-quarter touchdown passes and a blocked potential winning kick spoiled the Hornets' Homecoming. Their next road test is UAPB.

Chaos. Parity. No comfortable Saturdays.
Grambling knocked off unbeaten Jackson State. Valley followed its Prairie View upset with another comeback win. Southern answered a rough Homecoming loss with a road victory. FAMU spoiled Alabama State’s celebration. Alabama A&M rebounded fiercely, and Alcorn handled its nonconference assignment.
THEE take: the SWAC has chaos and parity. Results are shifting the conversation every week. A team can look vulnerable one Saturday and deliver a statement the next. Conference records keep the races crowded, and late-game execution keeps turning expected outcomes upside down.
JSU, AAMU and Valley are all 2-1 in SWAC play. Grambling and Alcorn are both 2-1 in the West. Being first today is an advantage, not a ticket punched. The next opponent still gets a vote.
