BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Black College Football Poll (BCFP) and the Black College Football All-American teams will make their inaugural debut just in time for the start of the 2026 college football season, as announced on Wednesday, April 22nd.

This is more than a poll. This is a MOVEMENT.

🏈 OFFICIALLY ENDORSED BY ALL FOUR HBCU CONFERENCES

The Black College Football Poll and the Black College Football All-American teams have been formally endorsed and sanctioned by:

NCAA Division I Conferences:

• Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)

• Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)

NCAA Division II Conferences:

• Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA)

• Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)

This marks the first time ALL FOUR major HBCU athletic conferences have come together to create a unified ranking system and recognition platform for Black College Football.

📊 HOW THE POLL WORKS

The Black College Football Poll will be conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches and select media members.

Voting System:

• Each voter submits a Top 10

• First-place vote = 10 points

• Second place = 9 points

• Down to 10th place = 1 point

The poll will feature two divisions:

• NCAA Division I (SWAC & MEAC)

• NCAA Division II (CIAA & SIAC)

⭐ BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

In addition to the weekly poll, the voting body for each respective division will select Black College Football All-American teams:

• Preseason All-American Team

• Postseason All-American Team

Each team will consist of the top HBCU student-athletes, featuring 1st Team and 2nd Team selections.

Individual Awards:

• 🏆 Coach of the Year

• 🏈 Offensive Player of the Year

• 🛡️ Defensive Player of the Year

• ⭐ Freshman of the Year

The Black College Football Poll is the first major joint initiative of the newly formed HBC4Us Association—a landmark alliance dedicated to protecting the integrity, legacy, cultural value, and competitiveness of HBCU athletic programs.

The association was officially established on July 30, 2025, during a leadership retreat at the Salamander Hotel in Washington, D.C., marking a historic moment in the collaborative advancement of HBCU athletics.

👔 THE COMMISSIONERS

The HBC4Us Association is led by the commissioners of all four HBCU conferences:

Dr. Sonja O. Stills — Commissioner, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)

Dr. Anthony Holloman — Commissioner, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)

Dr. Jacqie McWilliams Parker — Commissioner, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA)

Dr. Charles McClelland — Commissioner, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)

Together, these conference commissioners serve as the gatekeepers of HBCU athletics, providing a unified voice and strategic direction for all four conferences.

📢 JOINT STATEMENT FROM THE COMMISSIONERS

"We're extremely excited to partner on the formation and creation of the Black College Football Poll and the Black College Football All-American Team," the commissioners said in a joint statement.

"We view this strategic alliance as a game changer for our respective leagues and undoubtedly a significant step in the right direction towards unifying our collective conferences as it relates to preseason/postseason polls and awards while simultaneously recognizing the best Black College Football teams and student-athletes at the highest level."
